Harrison: Suh is too good to earn negative rep

Rodney Harrison has been there before, and he doesn’t want Ndamukong Suh to travel the same road he did during a 15-year NFL career.
The “there” in question is the point in which a player’s performance is overshadowed by his reputation.

On an almost weekly basis we hear different variations that Suh is out to hit quarterbacks and isn’t on the field to make friends, and he’s certainly no stranger to penalties relating to his aggressive approach. So much so, it could be overshadowing how great of a player he already has become.
Harrison — widely regarded as one of the league’s dirtiest players during his tenure – has been there, and has some advice for the young phenom.

“Suh is too good of a player to get this reputation,” Harrison told ‘Around the League’ on Thursday. “When you think about him, you should think of him as one of the two most dominant defensive tackles in the game.

“But instead of people focusing on all the positives he brings, they’re focusing on the dirty hits, the cheap shots, the talking through the media. He’s a phenomenal young player. He needs to get back to staying out of the media and (focusing) on hitting the quarterback.”

Suh is just 24 years old and well on his way to becoming a polarizing figure after only 23 NFL games. As such, the media won’t stop looking his way for that money quote. But he might just be better off letting his play do the loudest talking.
